Recycling (2010):
- Cardboard/Paper/Cans/Bottles/Plastic/Compost= 777 tons
- Kitchen Grease: 29.8 tons of grease turned into biofuel
- E-Waste, Batteries, Paint, Metals, Fluorescent Bulbs and Pallets= 542,000 lbs or 271 tons
- Donated supplies and equipment-in excess of 33 tons
- Hilton San Francisco achieved a 68.3% waste diversion rate in 2010 - a 1.7% improvement over last year
Energy Efficiency (2010):
- 2.4% reduction in electricity
- 10.6% & reduction in natural gas
Initiatives:
- New Laundry Equipment installed in December, 2008 conserved over 11.5 million gallons of Water and 1.37 million Therms of Natural Gas in 2010
- New water pumps installed in May, 2010 will conserve 64,000 KWh/year
- New fan wall for the Continental Ballroom lounges, more efficient lighting in the Imperial Ballroom, and motion sensors in the maid´s closets saved 500,000 KWH in 2010
- Outstanding achievement in energy efficiency and energy conservation - PG&E - 1984, 1995, 2001-2009
- Outstanding achievement for demand response - Greater than 500 kwh, 2007, 2008, 2009
- Charter member of the business energy coalition - demand response program
- Participation in demand response programs for nearly 20 years

- Hotel-wide use of non-toxic cleaning products
- Hotel-wide use of water-based paints, exclusively (no oil based)
